Dear Zen Golfers and Friends, We hope your summer golf season is getting under way with lots of opportunities to play Zen Golf on your favorite courses. Both the US Open and Father's Day are soon upon us, so we wanted to give you a brief news update before the full Summer Newsletter comes out in a few weeks. --- A note we received from Doubleday, the publisher of Zen Golf: "The office of the Commissioner of the PGA TOUR, Tim Finchem, called to say that he loved the book and that he went out and bought a bunch of copies to give as gifts at a Member-Guest tournament that he was hosting." --- Several PGA TOUR wives are buying the book for their husbands. Rich Beem told Dr. Parent at the Masters that his wife bought it for him and he's halfway through, and liking it a lot. In fact, it was Vijay’s wife who had the book sent to him at Riviera CC, where he began working with Dr. Parent. Barbara Nicklaus told Dr. Parent at the Memorial Tournament how terrific a book it was and how she has bought many copies to give to friends. One of our favorite comments is from a woman whose husband read Zen Golf. She said, "I used to be able tell how my husband's golf game went, by the way he walked up the stairs when he came home; now I can’t tell anymore." Please let friends know about Zen Golf as a special Father's Day gift. For Dads that already have the book, the Audiobook lets them listen to favorite chapters on their way to the course. (Available from www.ZenGolf.com that takes you to the ordering page on Amazon.com). --- Dr. Parent will be at the US Open in Chicago all of next week, Monday through the final round on Sunday. Any of you Zen Golfers attending the tournament, who'd like to meet him at Olympia Fields, or in the evenings after practice, please call the office (805-884-1978) or reply to this email and leave your name and contact phone numbers. --- ESPN will broadcast a special segment on "The Mental Game" during their US Open telecast, and Dr. Parent will be one of the featured instructors. Airtime is not set, but look for it while you're watching their coverage of the Open. The Golf Channel may also include a 'mental game analysis' interview with Doc during one of their pre-tournament evening shows. --- Finally, at the last ZEN GOLF School there were two young ladies who were just learning the game. As in the chapter, "What Is Your Target?", Doc emphasized the difference between the intention of "hitting the ball" versus "sending the ball to the target." The next morning they arrived early to practice before the class started. They left this a note on his chair in the seminar room: "Hi Doc! We're out on the sending range, sending balls to targets!" Yours in clarity, commitment and composure, The Zen Golf Staff (805)884-1978 P.S.: Please note that due to schedule conflicts, the ZEN GOLF School scheduled for August 19-21 has been postponed. Sorry for any inconvenience that causes. The full fall schedule (Sept-Dec) will be published in the next newsletter. There are still a few spots open in the June 28-30 school, as well as the July 28-31 school (an extended program with more time for awareness practice and more time on the golf course). Please see the website for details.
