Responses to the Zen Golf Approach by Junior Golfers
"Your seminar for the boys' and girls' teams was great. All the kids paid more attention than to any speaker we've had, and I heard them talking about the things you presented when they played their practice rounds. The improvement in attitudes toward themselves and their games is noticeable across the board. Thank you!
Butch Briedan, Golf Coach of Carpinteria H.S., Carpinteria, CA
"What you have given me is really great. It changed the whole way I was looking at playing golf. And the way you explain things is really easy to understand and apply. Thanks for the lessons."
Jason Vaught, 17, Ventura, CA
"Everytime I have a lesson with you I learn so much, my game improves, and I have a better time out there! Please let me know when you're coming back to town."
Carter Verhaeghe, 16, Portland, OR
"While working with Conan Elliot, we talked about the mental techniques you shared with him during your seminars at Heron Lakes Golf Club in Portland. I am extremely impressed with your simple, artistic approach to mental strategy, relaxation, perspective, and visualization."
Daniel Nelson, 15, Beaverton, Oregon
"Thank you for teaching the youngsters (ages 10-12). You have an excellent ability to communicate with them, and they were very excited about playing the way you taught them."
Rafael Quiroz, Tabachines Golf Club, Cuernavaca, Mexico
"The girls raved about your class. They all wanted to have you come back and work with them on the short game. In particular, what you did for Heidi was really impressive. She’s broken drivers in anger, slamming them into the ground after poor tee shots. Mishits would trigger bursts of angry comments, cursing, throwing or banging clubs. She was completely hard on herself, with no sense of humor about mishaps. Talk about your "evil caddie," Heidi carried a bunch of them along with her every round.
The next round after your class the girls played was on a very soggy course. At one point, Heidi stepped into a sinkhole, went in nearly up to her knee, and tumbled face first into the mud. As she was getting up I braced my self for her anger. But she laughed, quoted something you said in your class, and carried on with her game. The change was nothing short of miraculaous. All I could think was, "Wow!"
Chuck Blickell, Coach of Catholic Central High School Girls Golf Team, Portland, OR. State Champions nine of the last seventeen years. The class included Bobbie Dunn, who placed fifth in the state high school tournament in 1998.
